This trial has been a two year experiment, trial, ordeal, learning curve, call it what you will.

One of the main things I learned about the internet is that it is difficult to find someone you can trust. And until you can, then don’t trust anyone. This was a slap-in-the-face to someone who believes that most people are good people.

About 6 months ago I met someone who I knew I could trust. So I did trust him (not easy to do after being treated so badly by everyone else on the net.)   Adam taught me how to sell ANYTHING online. It isn’t rocket science, but it is a new set of skills you must learn.  Amazing!

This blog started in the Year of the Mouse. Nov 2008.

Fact 1: Teachers don’t make much money.

Fact 2: Most language teachers working in developing countries make considerably less than their counterparts teaching back home.

Fact 3: Many EFL teachers as very computer literate, and spend so much time with their laptops that it’s a little worrying.

Can EFL teachers use their computer skills to re-balance their bank accounts?

I am going to run some experiments – 10 trials.  The internet seems to be flooded with ways to make money by using the internet.  Of course if these were all true there would be no poor people left in the world, and we would all be reclining on a tropical beach waiting for someone (no one) to serve us cocktails.

As I trial each scheme I will keep you up dated with new posts.  Think of me as your financial guinea-pig. This should be interesting and fun. It could also be slightly tragic. The idea is that we might learn something that improves our world.

The Year of the Tiger.    Nov. 2010     

Yes, that’s right this blog has been up and running for two years.  Two years ago, I set out to see if EFL teachers (anyone for that matter) could improve their financial  situations by making money on the internet. The experiment has had plenty of time show results. The results of these trial have all been negative.

However, before the final summation of the trials is handed down, I must tell you that

I do now make money on the internet !

I must temper that statement by saying that at this time I am still doing some teaching hours each week.

It has been a long, frustrating, and at times, soul-destroying journey.  What started out as a bit of a laugh because I was bored, turned into something which at times I wished I had never started.

I want to keep this short and simple.  Let’s first talk about what you shouldn’t try on the internet.  Then we will look at what I really learned, or how you can make some money on the internet too.

I won’t hold back any punches here.  The internet is full of liars of amazing proportions.  The mechanism of the internet not only encourages these modern day thieves, it PROTECTS them, and they know it.  If Blackbeard was alive today he would be an

internet marketer.  They have no need to run from their crimes, they just set up another advertising campaign bigger than the previous one.  If you have read the trials, you would know that my first promise of becoming a squillionaire came from Rob (in hindsight that name should have told me something) of Blogging to the Bank.com .

His trick was to take the money and then cut all lines of communications.  He didn’t go and hang his head in shame and become a recluse monk praying for forgiveness, he is alive and well and thriving.  Check out what turned up in my email only a few months ago!

PS – If you’re interested in making money from blogs and driving thousands of free visitors to your websites then this is going to be the most important email you read all year.     Why?  Because a young blogging millionaire from the UK has just blown the lid off all the blogging game.
His name is Rob Benwell and he’s making up to $101,919 per month from blogging

Yes, the very same Rob Benwell from 2008. His tactics have just become slimier and even more dishonest.  Look at the email title.  ‘My paypal account has just been cancelled!’  Of course anyone would open that email.  He then pretends to represent a host provider and google!  Who then both appear to recommend Rob’s wonderful insights to the reader.  The arrogance of someone who has no fear of ever being caught.  So what can we learn from Rob?  The internet is STILL a place to be very wary of.  It is not cleaning up its act.

Then, in trial 2 I met The Rich Jerk.  Fortunately nothing happened there because Clickbank didn’t operate in Vietnam.  The same happened with Forex Avenger an early Forex robot.  At the time I felt hard done by.  The poor EFL teacher who can’t get ahead because he is working in an underdeveloped, technology deprived country.  However, knowing what I know now about internet marketers … I must thank Clickbank one of these days.

The trials then uncovered Affiliate Junction.  When the scam is happening you can’t see it, the perfect smoke screen of confusion covers it.  The article warrants reading again.  Note the last paragraph of the last update….. it says it all.

Then the grand daddy of all internet scams.  LTG Hard Rock. An Australian company which promises to educate you in the ways of  the Forex market.  7 minutes a day is all it takes apparently.  What a scam!!!  LTG Hard Rock is an internet scam of staggering proportions.  It is still running today.  Andrew Barnett is traveling to other countries now fleecing converts with a missionary zeal.  I have over 20 emails from Andrew Barnett trying to access my no-questions-asked-refund.  Interesting though they are, I won’t bother to post all the emails.  They are exactly what you would expect from a well practiced liar and thief.  The comments to my blog posting about the LTG Hard Rock scam, showed just how personally painful this type of thievery can be to individuals and their families.  I will store these emails.  If anyone needs them for the class action suit which is being organized, they are free to use them.

Even though I will put the LTG Hard Rock scam behind me, at this point, feel free to leave comments about this ongoing blight to Australian business.

My encounter with ProsperaTrade was short.  I was as careful as a dog living next to a dog meat restaurant.  (Sorry. Couldn’t help myself. I still live in Viet Nam.)  I watched them for a few weeks.  They slowly crashed and burned with every other robotic/automated forex scheme on the planet.  What did I learn from my forex encounters?  Forex is no more than a by-product of the huge banking world.  It is a game for the big boy$.  If you place a huge amount on the market for a one pip move, you make so much profit that you don’t need to work for the rest of the year.  The rich boy$ expose themselves to minimum risk.  They are on the market for mere minutes.  You and I put $1,000 on and expose ourselves to the market forces hoping to make 10, 20, 40 pips.  Too much risk!!  Couple this with a scientific given, no one can predict the future. Well, there’s our answer.

And fellow brethren, so ends the lesson of  The Good Teacher versus The Evil Internet.

But, as I said before, these days

I do now make money on the internet !

I didn’t sell my soul to the devil, and become an internet marketing guru.

I just didn’t give up.  I refused to believe that I couldn’t use the internet to better my financial situation.  I wouldn’t let it go.

Thank goodness I didn’t give up!
